help with finger position

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,

I need your opinion on this fingering for the major scale:
for example G

E string: G-A-B
A string C-D-E
D string F#-G-A
G string B-C-D

I was never exposed to this fingering until now and I want to know how common it is to use it. I find it is an excellent stretching exercise but is it really used? I find it impossible to do when playing F or F#, even G is at the limit of what I can stretch.

thanks!

It's used to play scales. For playing music, not really. At least not that when playing that low.
