Hi I'm looking for help with a few bars that I'm struggling to get to speed on.

The riff is straight 8th notes with root then octave, it starts on the A string fifth fret (then octave on G string 7th fret) then A string 7th fret (then octave) A string 8th fret (then octave) and back tho the 7th fret and octave.

I just can't sort the fingering . and technique out.

Any help appreciated.

Try using the open D string instead of the fretted D

The simplest way to play it with your LH is fret the root with your index, fret the octave with your pinky (you don't have to hold it the whole time, I'd just fret it when it's time to play the note... but you can hold if it's easier), just move your hand to where the root changes.
