Basically, I'm always on the lookout for new techniques... for me, it's how I get better. What I want you guys to do, is pick something you do particularly well, and show us! very much a show-and-tell situation!

Go with the following format if it helps:

Name (if any)

Description

Styles(which specific genres it would suit)

Specific pointers

Trouble Shooting (If your hands hurt, do this... If you cant reach try this)

Pictures or Video Links

I'd like to set the ball rolling with something I've developed myself...

Slap & Pop Variation

Description
Basically, I've got pretty big hands (especially for my age) so I've found that keeping my hand flat, and only bending at the second lot of knuckles helps me pop better, however this leaves a big gap between where I'm slapping from...
To conquer that gap, i bend my thumb 90 degrees and slap with the tip of my thumb

Styles(which specific genres it would suit)
Generally, I use it in some more funky stuff, a little Jazz here and there, but it pretty much fits in with anything you'd slap and pop (the normal, conventional way)

Specific pointers
keep your right hand a stiff position. once you have the right shape, all the movement gets done with the wrist

Trouble Shooting
Try moving your elbow around. typically i play this technique stood up with my bass a little lower than it is when I'm sat...

Pictures or Video Links

Basically, all I've played in this video is the A string, and the G string. Slapping a D on the A string, and then popping a D on the G string. keeping that same shape works really well with this technique, especially when moving around the fretboard ^^

Try:

G-----7------4-------5-------6-----------
D-----------------------------------------
A-5------2-------3-------4---------------
E-----------------------------------------

Best thing to do is just play around with it.

Apologies for: the Lack of amplification, the out-of-sync audio and the poor video quality...
still, if you need any help, just ask!

Your turn to post one!!!

Man, with your hand cramped like that it must hurt after playing a while, usually when I slapping people have a right hand that is way more relaxed.
