I was listening to "you can't hold no groove". Did you notice a big difference in terms of ease of playing in that style when you put the light guage strings on? I'd kinda like to set up one of my basses with light guage's to make double thumbing and tapping easier but them darn strings are just too expensive to experiment too much.

Yeah, it's generally easier with lighter gauge strings. Currently I have extra lights on my bass, down from regular lights, and medium lights before that.

I have kind of gotten out of that whole double thump scene, I don't even really slap anymore, the next strings I buy are going to be a thicker gauge because I'm not interested in doing all that stuff anymore, and I want a thicker sound.

but yeah, generally speaking the lighter gauge strings helped a little bit.
