I "picked" this technique up from my buddy Jauqo a couple years back, it's a true innovation in playing style and opens up a range of percussive and syncopative possibilities! If you think about it, this approach offers a lot of benefits over more traditional thumb/index finger picking styles in that you get much more power and control over the pluck, not to mention the flexibility of using other playing techniques at the same time. Cool stuff!

Thanks Lonny. And I hope it's working for you.

Here's another video clip of me utilizing the same technique.

Well after I overcame the urge to burn all my basses, I got the urge to practice, a lot.

I actually used to play guitar like that many years ago before I knew how to hold a pick properly, using the thumb and pick independently, but my hand never had any coordination, but I was 6 or 7 at the time, so this is about 15 years ago before I had an interest in playing an instrument seriously.
I'll have to give this a try though, but I have a feeling it probably won't catch on for me, as I don't like playing slap technique very much.

Man that is awesome.

How thick is the pick your using. I'm trying it out with my 1mm but keeps popping out. Probably just need to work on it more than 15 minutes.

tried it, but pick kept falling out. I wish so badly that a company made stiff bass picks with finger loops... but alas.... had to custom mod my own! check vid!

I just tried it and it feels really uncomfortable and makes my forearm hurt. Maybe I'm doing it wrong.
