Question Hitting the pickups

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a problem.

When I'm slapping or playing something harder, my strings keeping hitting the poles of my pickups and it makes a loud "CLICK!" sound. Is the only way to fix this is by lowering the pickups?

Is there a way to lower the pickup poles further into the casing so the strings hit the casing and not the poles themselves? Other than lowering the entire pickup, raising the string height, or not playing so hard, that's about all I can think of.

Send a message via ICQ to Slax
I've also heard you can put electrical tape over the pickups to stop it from making a connection with the poles.

Isn't waxing/epoxying supposed to help with that too? Seem to remember Sheehan does it for that reason.
