honking.

this is a bit of a noobish question but can anyone tell me how i get a real honky tone out of my basses and amp.

i have a fender jazz 4 fretless and a fender jazz 5 fretted played through a roland cube 100 and even though i've tried my best i just can't seem to get close to the sound i want any clues?

I would assume you're referring to a bridge pickup honk?

try boosting your mids alot. I remember an interview were Mike watt referred to his tone as honky, and he really jacks up the mids
