How to add speed to 3-finger plucking

Sign in to disble this ad
There is a bass solos song called "Salvation is Here" (might want to check that out) in which the bass player plays w/three fingers...

Since i'm so used to two finger playing I managed to pull it off w/it but I'd like to do the solo w/3 fingers so I can do it with ease.

What is the easiest pattern to follow for greatest speed, and what are the best exercises? Thanks

There are several threads on this.

I'm an R-M-I guy, I would practice doing scales and standard exercises using that pattern playing each note twice. This will force you into a 2 feel. Make sure you practise alternating between strings too. I rake the middle finger when going back and forth between strings - it allows you to play much faster.
