Whenever I tap on my stingray I often get buzzing, no matter how I tap. The action is very low...what am I doing wrong here?

A couple of reasons, based off of my observations:

1. Action TOO low.
2. Not tapping hard enough.
3. Not tapping close enough to the fret.
4. Tapping hard enough but not holding down the note, or removing your finger too slowly.

the "piano" lesson from vic wooten is a good start for improving this.
try to play sus9 chords like 10-12-14-16 (E-A-D-G) and then hold this chord. then "refresh" the notes by re-hammering or re-tapping the note while holding the other ones.

also what gauge of strings are you using? I find with lights it's kind of almost inevitable..

I'd add tapping too hard for your action. This causes the buzzing to happen during the attack.

Notice how far his fingers come off the strings when tapping. Not very far. It doesn't take much effort to sound a note with low action.
