How can I get this tone?

I am puzzled as to how his bass sounds like this. It sounds thumpy yet full of treble with no zing.

That's just any old bass with a lot of bass end added. Any bass will do it.

You're probably hearing the guitar on top giving the percussive element. It's tracking the bass notes.
