How do I get seperation between repeated notes? Think Rocco Prestia...

Ok so I'm having a problem getting separation between repeated notes at higher speeds. Think Rocco Prestia on What is Hip and other songs like that. How does he get that separation between those notes at that speed?

Is it more to do with the left or right hand muting? I don't have a problem getting separation between different notes and other situations. Just repeated notes at higher speeds...

Thanks.

Right hand muting. Practice playing staccato eighth notes 4 beats to a note climbing up a two octave scale of your choice. Mute only with your right hand and play to a metronome. Play this at the fastest tempo you can while still keeping the tone and volume consistent. Increase tempo ~5-10 bpm each week. Play scale and string skipping excersices staccato with the right hand.

For your right hand if you pluck with you first finger mute with the second finger before plucking and quickly reposition the first finger for the next attack.
