I do like a finger pick type thing with chords a lot, I also slap a decent amount, along playing finger style.

I don't ever use a pick though. I generally try to use as many different techniques as I can, evenly. Each offers it's own distinctive character.

Chords can be very melodic, finger style can add a nice groove, and natural feel to the song, while slapping can add a good amount of rhythm, and also make the song more energetic... or so I've found, at least.

I mainly play fingerstyle, but I LOVE to slap and pop the hell out of my bass. Especially when I'm playing hard rock. I use a pick when I just play a song with only one or two strings really fast. Fingerstyle when the bass line is more technical. And other when I'm just feeling crazy. Try chopstickes w/distortion or a spoon with wah-wah noises-SWEET! I guess a bow would be out of the question, but I'm up to trying it!

Some people have no pride in their town. Shame on them. I have a great pride for El Campo, Tx. Our Podunk town is the leading capitol of beer sales, and I take part in the festivities.
