A metronome is a valuable practice tool. Start out slow and work your way up.

this is way too long of a thread. here's the basic steps to playing good bass

1) stop asking people you don't know on the internet how to do it
2) pick up your bass
3) practice your bass
4) don't suck

slapping fast doesnt make you a great bassist....

but if you feel you must go insane...

then start off slow every day to a metronome and increase it every day by a little and don't move on till you have that down and clear.

to increase my speed i would never pop with ym index, focus on your thumb, the thumb in slap lines is like the true bass line, while i feel the pops accent it in a more melodic way... regardless iw ould practice my pentatonic, major, and minor melodic scales using only my thumb. eventually picking up on the wooten, Tap before you slap tecnique makes it seem like your doing double what you actually are.
