i came up with a tapping arpegio (sp) exercise. ill start with the 3 notes of a chord on 3 different strings and tap it ascending 4 times, then drop the 3rd a half step (makes it into a minor chord), play that for times, drop the 1st and 5th a half step leaving the 3rd where it is (makes it a major chord again, a half step down from where i started), and repeat. ill tap the first with my right index finger, 3rd with my left middle finger, and 5th with my left index. so it looks like this (as an example, and a portion of what i do):
G-|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
D-|-------15------15-------15------15-------15-------15-------15-------15--
A-|----17-------17------17-------17------16-------16-------16-------16------
E-|-18-------18------18-------18------18-------18-------18-------18---------
G-|--------------------------------------------------------------------------
D-|-------14------14-------14------14-------14-------14-------14-------14--
A-|----16-------16------16-------16------15-------15-------15-------15------
E-|-17-------17------17-------17------17-------17-------17-------17---------
and repeat going down hlaf steps as shown. and ive also started doing a plucking arpegio thing thats pretty similar. same pattern as the first, but i repeat the 3rd before going back down to the 1st, and i use my index for the first, middle for the 3rd, ring for the 5th, and middle for the 3rd again. how do you think those are as an exercise? what in terms of playing and technique do you think it could enhance? any reccomendations for changes or improvements? i know this is kinda useless without a video. ill try and get one up sometime in the next few days |
