How does steve harris do this stage "entertainment"

Because the bass weight isnt resting on anything...unless its his left hand...but thats moving along the neck...

Keep in mind thats just a picture. He could have held that pose for less than a second.

From what I remember, the bass is being held up by the strap. As you may notice, he's bent way over, allowing the bass to sling forward while still being held by the strap.
Can't say I know for sure, though.

looks like he's holding the bass with the left hand and picking the E string open E, so I gues that's not a problem

Looking at the slight motion blur from his body I am guessing this is during swing and was not held long. With a fast enough shutter and flash it could be taken without holding the pose long on stage.

Plus it looks like he has his thumb behind the body of the bass which would help keep it in one place. I've seen him do this quite a few times and it usually is during parts of a song where he's galloping on an open string.

Looks like he actually hold the bass upwards, with his left hand while playing the E and the camera just has a good angle on it. Of course, I maybe wrong.

its also quite possible he has got it held against his stomach... like for the machine gun pose (which is what this looks like to me)
