get a demo off em or get them to record a guitar track then think of a bassline in your head and find the notes then play it along to the track n see if it works

Melody is not exactly prominent in the screamo paradigm, however, so you may have to learn to make up your own. |

Is it real screamo or screaming pop punk?
If you look at a real screamo band like Saetia, they have many jazz influences, in fact their band name is a misspelling of a miles Davis Album. Therefore check out jazz.

I always thought music was music. I'm trying to be different in my band by the way. I know for a fact most screamo bands don't have good basslines.
That's why I want to spice things up. |

That's why I want to spice things up. | Reminds me of an old friend who was "way" too into screamo, post-punk and pop-punk. We once had a conversation that went like this:
Her: I love this band, their bassist is amazing!
Me: He's just playing 8th note roots and following the lead guitar
Her: Yeah, that's all they let him do so he doesn't go outside of their style of music.
</stupid>

</stupid> | I'm not saying that bass players in screamo bands are AMAZING. I know for a fact they are only following what the guitar does and I want to try something different, that's all. |

| | | | the best way to make melodic lines are to use major 3rds, perfect 4ths and 5ths, octaves, and major sevenths. That's my opinion. If you don't know what these are, they're simple to find anywhere on the internet. Just look up a basic theory site that explains intervals.
