The other day I was playing and suddenly realized that I was playing rather slow with a lot of long notes. Started to experiment by slowing down some other s**t I've come up with and it all sounded way more powerful, even if I played with a pick instead of fingers.
I'm just wondering how many "slow" players are out there?

The second part of this is: How many of you like to "hold it down" as opposed to "being up front"?
I'm more of a "hold it down" kinda dude |

Oh, and I tracked one of my riffs only to find that I play it at around 100-110 bbm. Still, I figure thats pretty slow for metal. The damn genre seems to be always speeding up. I find a lot of the music seems to have no "feel" anymore... |

for ex.: I play slow (to medium) tempo most of the time |

I don't need to be taking solos all the time, or at all, but I want to at least be heard and be an important part of the band. Not "just a bass player", if ya know what I mean.

I get called back more often that way.

| | | | depending on the band's tempo, my current band usually plays at 120 to 220. I usually hold the groove since I'm not a solo player. |
