How fast do you play?/What type of Bassist are you?

The other day I was playing and suddenly realized that I was playing rather slow with a lot of long notes. Started to experiment by slowing down some other s**t I've come up with and it all sounded way more powerful, even if I played with a pick instead of fingers.

I'm just wondering how many "slow" players are out there?

----------------------------------------------
The second part of this is: How many of you like to "hold it down" as opposed to "being up front"?

I'm more of a "hold it down" kinda dude

Interesting... The results are almost exactly what I imagined they'd be.

Oh, and I tracked one of my riffs only to find that I play it at around 100-110 bbm. Still, I figure thats pretty slow for metal. The damn genre seems to be always speeding up. I find a lot of the music seems to have no "feel" anymore...

I like to lay down a solid groove - tight with the drums, but keep up with the guitarist when the need arises.

I always thought the goal was to be able to play at many tempos.

I also think that being able to play at any tempo is a goal everyone should have. But, I'm more interested on the majority of peoples playing.

for ex.: I play slow (to medium) tempo most of the time

I prefer to be the "up front" kind of bassist, I hate being buried under the guitar/drums/vocals/whatever else there is. I don't need to be taking solos all the time, or at all, but I want to at least be heard and be an important part of the band. Not "just a bass player", if ya know what I mean.

I usually play at the tempo of the song the band's playing.

I get called back more often that way.

You can't just skip from 120 to 200+ I usualy write stuff that ends up being around 140-160 beats per minute, but I play at all speeds

depending on the band's tempo, my current band usually plays at 120 to 220. I usually hold the groove since I'm not a solo player.

When ever someone ask what type of player I am, I always look for the "untalented hack" selection.
