4 notes per click.

click = 1/4 note
1/4 click = 1/16th note.

so

you can't play 160 either!

just kidding, bro! I can't manage much over 120... but thanks to this thread, I'm getting comfortable with that. Yeah... I'm not fast, but I groove, goddamn it.

Actually, I'm finding this to be quite true. I'm working on getting into this kickass band (www.radiolachusma.com) -- a real strech assignment for me, 'cause I've only been playing bass for 7 months (like 4hrs/day, tho, and I've got a long music background). They've got a bassist with good quick chops, but no taste. They said to me after they heard me play,

"yeah, he's okay, but he's only been playing for a few years. We're really looking for someone who's a pro, with more experience like you."

During the audition, I was pretty much peggin' root-fifth where their normal bassist was flying all over the place. But I was hitting them *in time* and *in the groove* so they think I'm a pro and their guy is an amateur. Still, there's parts of their songs where I really feel I need some more speed to play what I hear.

200 plus bpm

I hit 218bpm, 1/16 notes, 4/4 time about a month ago. I can hold for about 20 seconds before I turn blue in the face. Ha Ha ......

Only using i-m fingers.
