What i mean about straightening his hand i mean his right hand had to go lower. your way is confortable now. Have you spoken to anybody if this will be the best way as you said "remaining injury free." | Well, my injuries tend to crop up in my left hand not my right. If my right were to start to hurt then I would reconsider my position.
Still wearing it the same height as if I was sitting doesn't put my wrist at a 90 degree angle. Its more like 45 degree angle.

Personally I prefer the classical guitar playing position, as I don't have to bend my wrist at all.
NOTE: the right-left thingie was written with assumption that you're a right handed player. |

| | | | I just raised my bass height because of some slight pain in my left wrist. Nothing severe, but I'm taking this as a sign that my bass it too low for me. Now at James Hart '00 height. It's better now.

Actually, it's pretty much centered on my stomach. It's at a sharp angle though, so the upper horn is right at my left nipple, and the bottom corner of the bass just about covers my manly bits. | Yep same here!!! |

| | | | i wear it pretty high. too low and it feels like i can't access all the fret, i.e. when i get closer to the headstock it hurts my wrist. the higher up the more comfortable because it's more like playing whilst sitting.

so 70's punk is a good way to describe that

I've noticed that if I try to play my bass hung low I have to stand at an angle to my bass with the headstock more out in front of me to keep my left wrist relaxed. If I play it hung high I can play it more across my chest with the neck closer to my left shoulder. |

Goofy playing-in-my-music-room pics, but this is right where I keep all of my basses. I'm only 5'8", so the length of my straps from end to end is only about 34" or 35". Comfort Strapps are the only straps I've found (other than little guitar straps) that come in sizes short enough for me. |

Im saying the top horn is in my nads. I know probably all of you would think this is wrong, but they it looks cool! And i know probably all say stuff like, i cant play to my potential or i wont be able to do some techniques and im pretty stoopid if i go for looks, but when you play party music, technique doesnt matter... its just delivering that dense low end. Oh yeaaa |

Basically, I always try to make sure that the center of the 22nd fret matches the end of my sternum. Also, I like that my bass has just a slight inclination with the horizontal (like 20°). | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
