do the following....

take your arm and let it hang by your side. shake it around for a few seconds and let your fingers and arm become very limp and loose. then slowly bring your arm up to the neck, using as little muscle power as necessary. then play a scale or exercise while keeping this feeling in your arm and hand. you should strive to play a note with as little muscle as possible in your left hand. play scales at a slow tempo first, then increase. always be sure to keep your pinky close to the stings.....

good luck!

Practice, do chromatic runs up and down the fretboard using all your fingers and keeping them as close to the strings as possible. Do this 15 minutes a day and you will have more control over your pinky quite quickly.
