When I started playing in high school, this is how my day went. Came home from school, went to my room, started practicing, mom would come get me for dinner. After dinner, would go back to my room, start practicing again. Next thing, my dad would be knocking on my door, telling me to go to bed. 20-30 hours a week was a normal thing for me. If I would have had the internet back in those days(1986), I would have been a better bass player, alot sooner. An hour a day is great, but make that hour count. Turn off the cell phone and lock the door.

I think that will be my new years resolution, instead of logging on here multiple times a day, I think I will limit myself to 2 times, and grab my bass instead of logging on the other times.

I practice at least 1 hour a day. Usually, after supper before I watch any tv or get on the internet. On the weekends, I've been known to practice for 5 to 6 hours on Saturdays and 2 to 3 on Sunday afternoons.

Im a full time student, but manage at least 2 hours a day when in school. When schools out, I can play up to 8 hours a day off and on.My practice regiment consist of playing along with jamtracks, improvisational lead stuff, and finger exercises"non musical"
I can read talkbass and watch a movie while running scales and appregios. Just for muscle memory and strength...but If Im serious about it I turn everything off, and try to learn new things. I get my most beneficial practice in when Im actually jamming with a drummer and guitarist or keyboardist... Im very attracted to improvisational fusion, and the only recipe to learn that is time spent paying your due's, with other musicians. We learn through failure, and the opportunity to fail is everywhere!

4 to 6 for me, but i sometimes don't practice if i have a long gig that day or a tiresome day. in that case, i usually learn changes on piano, or just listen to stimulating music.

but this holiday, i haven't played for a week essentially, or only an hr at most...went home to see the folks, and gruesome end of the semester, needed a break

HI

Practically never now. Used to quite a bit in my teens and 20's. Now I gig about 260 days a year and have mild to middle of the road tendinitis in both elbows. I use my down time to stay away from the bass. The only time I pick up a bass other than a gig is to learn a tune. Sucks but its reality

I think gigging 260 days a year counts as better than practice. Take care of those joints man!

I don't have much time during the week. Just an hour or so because the last hour before I go to bed is too ineffective to spend it practicing.
In the end it turns out playing 1-1.5h/day looking at a week.

I usually practice about an hour a day but I keep my bass and rig right next to my couch (one of the benefits of divorce heh!) so whenever I'm just sitting around watching tv or listening to music I'll often reach over, hit the switch and play along with songs, commercials, movie soundtracks, whatever. If I figure all that noodling in, it probably doubles my practice time over the course of a week.

I try and spend about two hours a day (during the weekdays, more on the weekend) with a bass, an hour with a guitar, and an hour at a drum set or with a pad. Most of my diving time is spent counting out odd meter music, finding where the one is during each different musical phrase

Depends, sometimes its and hour, and then sometimes its a couple hours.

I generally take my bass around the house and play whenever.

I spend so much time recording and producing anymore. It used to be 2 hours daily minimum. Now, I'll usually only practice if there is a gig I need to get in shape for, then its mostly a couple hours a day of warmups & technique building for 2 or 3 days before.

An hour or two every morning. Hardly at all anymore.

Not as much as I'd like to practice. New puppy plus freelance work that I shouldn't have taken on plus wedding planning plus friends in town for the holidays...sigh.
