How to Mute Well?

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm trying to learn how to mute using my left-hand. I've read that you shouldn't use just one finger each to mute the strings, but to lay your your three fingers over the strings not being played? When I try to do this, my fingers automatically come up; so not all of the strings are truly being muted. Can anyone help me with this, or just give advice on how to mute? If there is anyway someone could give me advice on how to play on each string while muting the other 3 strings, I would greatly appreciate it. If you have any questions, please do ask, though I may not reply until tomorrow.

Thank you!

Check out the "Floating Thumb" technique. Not alone do you mute the strings, but as your wrist is straight, you avoid such problems as CTS etc at a later time.
