Went string shopping and saw a guy that was thinking of being a bass player. The salesman was instructing him to used the tips of his fingers on the frets.
I thought it interesting.

Also, 3 shops and no flats for a 5 er! What's this world coming to?
So, PayPal pulls through again. (gotta love the net)

I've heard a lot of conflicting info on whether to use tips to fret, or the pad of the finger.
What I've gathered is, tips provide better intonation and range of freedom, but pads are better for muting and reaching lower strings on basses with a wide fretboard.
I just do whatever I'm more comfortable with at the moment.
