I need to slow things down....

So I play pretty fast and am able to keep a very steady beat (thank you guitar hero lmao) anyway, my problem is that I play to fast for certain songs. I try to keep it slow but as I play and start to get into it I speed up. Any tips on how to slow things down a hair?

Work with a metronome until the song's tempo becomes second nature

Have a good drummer and stay with him. I have the opposite problem, my drummer gets excited sometimes and speeds things up a little. I point it out to him. Gotta be together man, that's the bottom line.
