i play bass,my kid plays guitar..

Whenever I find him playing his guitar he's not using a pick.I keep giving him picks he just doesn't like using them!is he developing bad habits by not using them?I told him the more he uses it it will seem more natural,and he will play better, am I wrong?

Although it isn't very popular, or commonly heard of, you can use finger style for playing bass and guitar, but it might not be good for hitting all the notes.

Seriously, I know a lot of guitar players. Many of them do not use picks. The advantage is that the guitar is quieter when finger picked so that it blends better with singing if there is no PA being used.
