I have a few pictures relating to this, I know you don't want many,
but my positioning seems to change dynamically with each different song it seems.

I don't play with a pick, but I rake my strings with my hand in semi-slap if I want extra pop.
It mangles my strings though, alot quicker than if I were to just play with my fingers.

Bah, my right hand is cut out of the picture, but this one seems to be my most common technique.

Pointers anyone?

Yeah, no offence, Im not making fun of you or anything I am helping you, you need to work on your hand positions, keep your thumb at the back of the neck, it will help you strech and will make it easier to play. Looks like your using one finger there too, try to use more than one, yuse two.

Here is an easy exercise that I use to build finger strength and independence

1 = Pointer
2 = Middle
3 = Ring
4 = Pinky

Using 1 finger per fret, Pick any fret on the fretboard and play up and down the strings using the combinations below. Go Slow to get a clean sound, using your fingertips. Do each combination going up and down the strings (E,A,D,G G,D,A,E) 10x a day. Stop If you feel any pain, Rest shake out your hand and continue.

1,2,3,4
1,2
1,3
1,4
2,3
2,4
3,4

4,3,2,1
2,1
3,1
4,1
3,2
4,2
4,3

i got this off another thread and just copied and pasted it. i think this a very simple exercise that helps you vastly improve your technique. this is not my idea, but as its a good one so i took the liberty to just copy and paste it.
also try to come up with your own excercise, by alternating strings and generally do things which your brain doesn't tell you to do, meaning the more awquard , (spelling?) it becomes the better, but stay one the one finger per fret system.
