If you've had carpal tunnel surgery, please help me out

I'm having surgery on my picking hand in March. Six weeks after surgery we have a fairly big gig to play so what I am wondering is:
  • What sort of physio did you receive?
  • How long until you were able to play again?
  • Do you have any links/info for exercises to help speed up recovery?

I'll also be doing my fretting hand later next year, but I thought doing my picking hand first would be a better option to gauge how i react to the surgery

I had carpal tunnel surgery last year on my fretting hand. Had the surgery on Wednesday and played two services the following Sunday. Hand was still sore but I got through it. I had the surgery performed at the Brown Hand center in Houston Tx. Look them up on line and see if you can find someone locally that performs this technique. The total recovery time was only 7 days and now I can't even see the scars.

Down here they mostly issue all surgery patients with it, but in case they don't: use Arnica tablets to speed up recovery (http://home.intekom.com/pharm/weleda/arnictab.html).
