Hey guys, this may be a weird question, but I've neglected my wanting to play bass for a long time, due to the fact that I'm missing three fingers on my right hand (pinky, ring, and middle). I know bass is more right hand intensive (I'm also right handed) than regular guitar, so should I even bother? I know you're all going to say "of course you should stupid" but how much of a handicap is this really going to be? Thanks for the input. |

1. Victor Wooten style (get the video). He uses his thumb, basically as a giant pick. Look at "double thumbing".
2. Heavy metal style with the index finger. Like the guy from metallica (original bassist) again, you use your index finger as a giant pick, upstrokes and downstrokes.
3. Banjo style thumb plectrum (pick). Attaches to your thumb. |

Then you should take a real good look at one of the best all-time bassists, James Jamerson.
He plays all those *sick* basslines with only his index finger.

I say get a bass. and have at it......

do it! also, in my experience band members like it when you play simple.
you can also play with a pick like normal, i guess? but i still think you should do the one finger technique. make it your own! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
