here's a thought-place your hand on the bass neck,one fret per finger.Keep the other fingers down on the string.practice lifting the ring finger up and the put it down on the string,only the tip should make contact.The other fingers may want to move,but take your right hand and hold em' down.Keep the ring finger as loose as possible and keep the others pressed againt the string.Do this repetitive motion until you can't do it any more.After about a month,you'll want to do this with each finger.This is different than upright/never loose contact with the string playing.
