Interesting variations to some Tool songs

I know some of you out there are desperate to play Tool songs exactly how they're played on the album. Not me. I'd play them differently. I'd do some variations, like the ones listed here. I'll tab them out to explain some of the variations better.

Lateralus - I don't know how Justin does that volume swell during the intro, as he doesn't have a volume pedal (at least, not as far as I know). I'd probably have it sampled and have the DJ slowly bring up the volume. Either that or use a volume pedal. During the part where he has his fretless overdubbed on one part, I'd just do one big slide then the last two notes of that lick. Also, during that part where he uses his whammy pedal (7:21), I'd probably just do fretless slides.

Fretless bass part (3:10)
g-----------------------------------
d--------------10---------------12--
a-----------\8--------------\10-----
d---12//-----------12//-------------

Whammy part (7:21)
After striking each note, slide down the fretboard.
g|---------------------------------------------------------
d|----17-----17-----17-----17-----17-----17-----17-----17
a|.--------------------------------------------------------
d|.--------------------------------------------------------

g----------------------------------------------------|
d----12----10----12----15----12----10----15----12-.|
a---------------------------------------------------.|
d---------------------------------------------------.|

Parabol/Parabola - Justin tunes his bass to BEDG, but I'd just use a five-string there. There's even one part where an A string could be used. I don't think you'd have to use octaves during the chorus part of Parabol and Parabola.

(0:49)
g--0----2-2----4---6-7--------2-2----4-4
d---—---------------------2-------------
a----------------------------------------
e----------------------------------------
b----------------------------------------

g---0---2-2----4---6-7--------2-2------4--
d--------------------------2--------------2

The Pot - During the part where he utilises his Fuzz/Wah, I'd use a combination of Big Muff/Wah and just play the main riff instead of randomly hitting the open D. Perhaps even an envelope filter, talkbox or doing that thing he does on the Patient would work.

The Patient - It is claimed that he hammers on while turning the tone knob, but I don't know. I think I can hear some picking on the album. I'd probably use a wah pedal.

Wings for Marie/10,000 Days
He uses a copy of his usual Wal bass which reportedly has less midrange. Some people thought he used a fretless bass on those two songs. I'd use a fretless there. But I'll have to work on my classical style first (maybe my brother can help)...

Also, I'd use chorus instead of flanger. Some people don't realise that Justin Chancellor uses a combination of chorus AND flanger for "46 & 2".
