I'm working through Norm Stockton's DVD series:
(Norm Stockton's Home Page), and he spoke of the importance of knowing where the intervals around any note are and what they sound like. Knowing what they sound like will give a bass player the ability to play what they hear in their head because they know where that note is in relation to the root.
I recorded myself playing all of the intervals around middle D. Please forgive the occasional buzz or the noise of other strings vibrating - some of the intervals (like a lower 7th) are hard to get to and I need to improve my technique. I've repeated each pair of notes ten times in each clip to give a good listening to how they sound.
Enjoy!
