JJ is one of my favorite bassists and I love playing along to the old Motown records. I'm sure a lot of you guys would agree. Now, he played with the one finger "claw" technique as far I know on the Motown stuff. Has anybody tried using that style on really fast stuff or just use one finger in general? Check out the line on What's Going On by Marvin Gaye (one of the greatest basslines around IMO) and look at some of his 16th note runs. Try doing that with one finger and it turns out pretty tricky. |
