Key Changes? Question

I have been playing for about 2 years sporadically looking at theory, recently I have really gotten into theory and am having a blast learning it and learning how to apply it.

My question is what about key changes. Basically if you have a bass pattern you play in say the key of C Maj but you then move it up to the key of D Maj, do you play the same pattern or what?

Depends...if it's a simple modulation (basically, the same groove/feel, etc), you can play the same 'pattern' just a step higher(from your Cmaj up a whole step to Dmaj example).

So if you were playing something like-
...lCC AG CC AGlCA GA CC GAlDD BA DD BAlDB AB DD BAl etc.

Same 'pattern' played a step higher.

Doing something a little different at the Key change(1/8th notes become 1/4 notes with different movement-
...lCC AG CC AGlCA GA CC GAlD_F#-G_A_lD_F#_G_A_l etc.

There are many options...use your ears.
