Larry Graham question (Youtube content)

Can someone tell me exactly what Larry is doing during the verses...examples would be at 18 and 27 seconds. Is that a muted slap? It sounds totally basic but for some reason I can't nail it.

its just him thumpin the strings while his left hand lays over the strings to mute them. Sort of a percussion feel

Ya, muted slap. With both hands. Not near as hard as it looks. Just keep at it and try to do what he's doing.

Thanks guys! I knew it was going to be something simple. I can do some of the "fancy" two handed slap stuff, but when it comes to something this basic I choke. Talk about putting the cart before the horse!

I've seen this video a million times, and the beginning still scared the crap out of me.

The big "YEEAHAHAHAHA!" at the beginning is great! I used to have it as a ringtone.

So after sitting with this for a few minutes and getting it down I feel pretty silly for having had trouble with it before. Gotta learn somehow.

It's a muted slap, but he's fretting notes, so it's not just percussive, there's some note in there.
