learning after 5 years of playing

hey guys,
I have been playing for about 5 years, not a single lesson, and I'm doing pretty good for myself but I think it would be nice to learn what I'm doing. I just kind of learned by listening to other bands, but I want to know more, just so I have a little knowledge behind it all. I learned all the notes of the fretboard the other day and learned a major and minor scale, but then I kind of just got confused. Where do I learn scales, what are some tips and everything?
