left hand fingers

i started playing bass about two months ago, but i've been playing music for about 10 years, and i play maybe 5 hours a day. i'm getting pretty good, and the other day i noticed something odd about my left hand. for most arpeggios and solo type embellishments, i usually use index and pinky fingers primarily.

example, ascending scale tones (5-6-1-2-4-5-flat7-8) all using pinky and index, 2 notes a string.

it just seemed a little odd to me...any thoughts?

just a little bad habit i guess... just try and use your fingers so you don't have to move your hand as much and use all of them keeping your hands in the scale position
