I have had a bass for 15 years now, playing (with) it now and then. Only very recently (less than 6 months) I changed my guitar (for a beautiful Cort A4) and started routine exercises, dedicating time and effort to my playing.
So I have this left-hand question:
Moving between strings (as in spider exercises), I can't stop my fretting finger go "pang!" on the string or produce unwanted harmonics just before my plucking right hand strikes the string. This creates an almost double sound (pang-bum pang-bum...) which obviously becomes harder (or impossible) to avoid up the fretboard (as the space between the string and the frets increase and I have to push the string down to the fretboard a longer way).
(Before you tell me to go find a teacher: I will, I just have to do without one for now.)
Do you have suggestions or exercises or ... I don't know...
