Left Hand Slap

Am I the only one who has a problem getting a good "slap" sound with the left hand without using the right hand? Seems like it would be so easy, but I'm not getting the sound I want.

Lightbulb Hmmm...

My Friend,

If I get what you're talking about ( YouTube - Paul's left hand (LH) slap technique bass lesson + tab ) then the first place I would look is at the setup of your bass - low action really facilitates this technique; playing an almost perfectly flat fretboard (adjusted via the truss rod) also seems to help.

YMMV. Hope this helps.

This is exactly what I was talking about. Thanks for the link. Based on the comments I'm not the only one who is having a little trouble with this. Harder than it looks.

just takes practice to get enough force behind your fingers to make a decent sound
