Left hand technique for small handed?

Played a jazz solo last night, using 124. Like butter, as stated above. There's really no need to stretch and strain except for a note or two here and there.

I've been a primarily 1-2-4 player for 20+ years. I think the "most players use 1-2-3-4" statement is a myth. I see a wide range of fingering options used when I go to shows or watch Youtube videos of pro players I respect.
