Left Handed Tapping

Sign in to disble this ad
I recently started dabbling with some left handed tapping and I must say, I really like it. I alternate between a tap on somewhere like the 5th fret or 7th and and open string. So I tap 5th and let go to get the open string note, tap 5th, let go, etc. It comes out sounding very fluid but with a lot of drive at the same time. Love it! Anyone else use some cool left handed tapping tricks?

I've played an entire bass line while holding a drink and/or smoking a cigarette with my right hand, does that count?

In all seriousness, I do that a lot. I'll hammer the notes with just my left hand and do counter-rhythms with my right, or just hammer and then pluck with my right hand just after the hammer to sound out the note one more time. So instead of "bamp" I get "bah-domp". I certainly hope that made sense.

What do you do with your right hand during these counter rhythms just out of curiosity. This sounds interesting.
