Set up on the 10-12 fret and work out fingerings across three strings using a one finger per fret method. Run major starting on the middle finger then minor starting on the forefinger. The object is to move the fingers only. When you get familar with that, run the eight modes then transpose them about. Take the time to listen to what you play.
As you get stronger move down the neck, as the frets get wider the task will get a little harder. this may take a few weeks to a few months before you get down towards the third fret so don't rush it. also try some of the chord tones, that requires the use of the little finger also. take it slow and when tired stop and think about them, great learning in that part alone to familiarize yourself with what you trying to achieve.

try patterns just using your 3rd and 4th fingers too, like....

-------------8-9-------
---------8-9-----------
-----8-9---------------
-8-9-------------------

try it with 1 & 2, then 2 & 3, then 3 & 4.
The Chromatic scale is great for getting all 4 fingers where they need to be. Good luck

This is a classical guitar exercize, not one of the classic 24. You just stay on the first string and play this sequence, one finger per fret. 1234 4321 1434 2434. It's supposed use is to build dexterity and align the hand properly to the neck.

That's boring. Do 5th's and octaves. That's what i do at least, dunno if it helps or not.

Start with this: first finger on F (1st fret E string) and go F,F#,G,G# (using all 4 fingers...) then move to the A string and do the same thing. When you complete the G go backwards starting on the G again (4321) until you get back to the 1st fret of the E string.

After you can do that smooth and at a decent tempo try doing the same thing but moving up a fret every time you change strings. E-1234, A-2345, D-3456, G-4567 then do that backwards.

If you get bored with that and want something harder to Root and 5th using 4 frets alternating strings. E string first fret (F), A string third fret (A), E string second fret (F#), A string fourth fret (C#) then move onto the A and D string then D and G string...then do it coming up 5th and root...G to D, D to A, A to E etc.

Let me know if this helps and you want more

Finger Exercise

Here's a cool little exercise I picked up from a Stu Hamm video:

Extend every other finger and alternate. Stick out your index and ring fingers, then switch to your middle and pinky. Keep switching back and forth. This should help build more finger independence. Best of all you can do this almost any time; while driving, at work, watching TV, etc.
