A Little Help with Open String Muting

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm working on studybass and had a question on exercise 5.

Bass Exercises: One Octave Major Pentatonic Scale

I'm wondering how you would mute the first open D an subsequent grouping of C's and D's. When I try to mute the D with just my plucking hand (alternate finger) I hear some ringing in the amp even when dampening all the strings. So I have started to try to use my fretting hand and plucking simultaneously to kill the ringing. For the C's, I have been just releasing pressure with my fretting hand to end the note. Any tips. Thanks
