Question Man, small arms.

Hey everyone,

got another one of those guitar strap problems

Alright I have a decent Levy's leather guitar strap, fits fine and stuff... It's already pretty high but... it's uncomfortable to reach to the first fret... kind of puts a strain on my wrist. Any little tricks to relieve this frustrating strain?

Could it be that I just need more practice standing while playing or .... is there something else?

Thanks.

Maybe tilt the bass more towards the vertical &/or bring the body down a bit?

And how high is "pretty high"? I've seen bassists who might consider waist high as pretty high, & some who are happy when they can touch the body with their chin.

Well, I used to keep it at my waist then I raised it to my stomach area ... stomach area seemed pretty high ... almost... chinable hah.

Alright, I'm gonna try to lower it real quick ...

Okay so there's no strain now.. but the neck is wandering downward.

That would be "neck dive". What type of bass & strap? One way to reduce that is a leather strap because the sueded underside offers more friction to the slide.

My axiom is to wear the bass in a way that let's me play cooler instead of look cooler. I might look like a dork, but I'll look like a dork while in a far better band than otherwise.

Yeah I have a leather strap, the underside is made of suede too.

I find the best hight is to have the bass at the same angle/hight as when you are sitting down. Sit down with your strap on, and when you stand up the bass shouldn't move it all.

GAXB ... I was sort of frustrated with it yesterday, so I stopped then I tried adjusting again today later, and it seems the neck dive isn't really that bad anymore. Thanks.. and the G3 seems pretty nice. Haha... but.. .I'd depend on the RPG. -rolls eyes-
