Hi, does anyone know what special “tools” “accessory” “thumb band” Mark King is using on his thumb for slapping?

Do you know where to get it?
Thanks
Gil

I replied to your question over in the Slap Bass Welcome Center thread.

It's just some gaffers tape over his thumb to prevent what happened that one time where his thumb bled all over his white bass...

Mark plays with electrical tape or gaffa tape wound around his thumb. As someone already mentioned, this is because his thumb used to split and bleed as he slapped so hard. At the end of each show he pulls it off and throws it into the crowd - i know many people who've got one.

Never had the problem myself and I doubt King does these days either. It has become something of a trademark for him though which i guess is why he still wears it.

I remember seeing him throwing it away after the Newcastle gig on October 8th 2006, I'm not sure it's a souvenir I'd want, it must be a bit sweaty by the end of the show!

Good to see Mark being mentioned here on TB!
