Hey Everyone,

I am wondering, i am playing Longview at my school battle of the bands. And i am wondering does anyone know how Mike makes that chord noises at the last bit of the verse:

G|---8-6-5-6-|
D|-----------|
A|------------|
E|-------------|

It sounds like he holding chord or just hittin the d string with it? Well if anyone knows it will be much appreciated! Thanks!

Yeah, he hits an open D at the same time as he plays the last four notes of the riff. It's a chord indeed.

G|---8-6-5-6-|
D|---0-0-0-0-|
A|------------|
E|------------|

It should look like that.

This is another variation:

G|---8-6-5-6-|
D|---0---0---|
A|------------|
E|------------|

The second way is how I play it, but I'm not sure exactly how he does it.

Yep, that's how it's done, which means that if you play the song in its original key and don't detune, it becomes a bit tricky to let the root note ring.

Not that you guys will do so-

Dennis Dunaway of Alice Cooper was a master at using an Open "D" as a drone-
Check out "Dead Babies" (from Killer) & "Gutter Cats vs. The Jets (from School's Out)

Keep in mind he's tuned down a half step. When I covered it, I didn't retune but you can't really do the chords.
