Muted notes...some advise please

I've been playing a long time and this is something I'd love to get some feedback from other players from...I use a lot of muted notes in my playing, but often in louder band situations they kinda dissapear. And if I can't hear them, it's a bit frustrating and affects what I'm playing and how I'm approaching things. What do you do to get your muted notes out? I EQ a good bit of upper mids already and have a fairly robust right hand attack...what else? Compression? Beating the band to get 'em to turn down? What? Thanks.

you could always strike harder on your mutes, How do you execute your muted notes? It may not work for you, but if i want mutes heard i keep some fingernails grown on my right hand and lift my fingers high and bring them down fairly quickly, sort of flicking the nails through the string. The nail technique will naturally be a brighter sounding mute than you may want but hitting it harder with the pads of your fingers would work too. Also try striking with 2-3 fingers at once for the mutes.

hey, some stuff gets lost in translation and there's not a lot you can do. but even if they can't always be heard, they do add something to the music so don't stop if it's working for you.
