I do it just like Brad says. Very easy to do and after a while you don't even have to think about it

Follow-up.

As the original poster.

It has been a couple of months since I posted this question. I have now learned to mute the A string, as needed, with my pinky-it is almost second nature now.

Thanks for all the great hints.

Update for me as well. Since this thread has existed, i have learned and now use the floating thumb technique, instead of just anchoring it on the pickup all the time. It is second nature and feels quite comfy...
