Muting while playing with a pick.

I have reacently started playing with a pick. But when i play i am having troube muting all my strings. when i play with my finger i use the floating thumb to mute, but since i cant really do that when im playing with a pick i need some advices on how to mute while playing with a pick :P

mute the strings with your fingers you are not using with the hand on the neck. are you hitting all the strings when you are playing with the pick?
