My muting sucks

Sign in to disble this ad
Ive played bass for some years but decided to have some lessons as I back into gigging now,I used to leave my thumb anchored to the top of my pickups and I moved across the strings= aot of string rumble, now my thumb tracks down and rest on the above strinng to wich I play muting it but Im still geting noise from where I dig in.

I play quite aggressivey anyhow so I'll never be superclean but is this normal?

Aslo my hand at the wrist archs out of I get to G leaving my E free to wobble, not good,I guess the answer here is to keep my "flat" yes? I think ideally I should slow down.

Take a look at the "Floating Thumb" technique sticky at the top of the forum. It might also help to try to develop a lighter touch and let the amp do the work.
