My techer wants me to use my thum

i am used to playing with my thumb on the pickup and alternating between index and middle fingers but all of a sudden my teacher wants me to play with my thumb index and middle fingers, even try use three fingers! should i just keep with the way i feel comfortable or adjust?

i would at least try it...you might like it!...but then again it may not be for you...just remember...there are many ways to skin a cat...

lol and i have skinned many cats in my lifetime. i have tried this way and it just feels uncomfortable, i lack speed and dexterity and i just go out of everything which i know is expected with a new style but i picked up my current one easily

Its always uncomfortable at first. But if you dont think ull have any use of the technique, tell the teacher. I say give it a try. This technique could make it possible to play insane licks and chops not possible otherwise, later on.
